Beverly High School Class of 1982

To all - I received the following email and am posting it here on the website. In light of the postponement of our reunion, Conti & Dee Coluntino have very generously offered to host a party as noted below.

Dear BHS Class of 1982,

As many of you know, our 25th Class Reunion which was to be held at Danversport Yacht Club has been canceled for Friday, August 3, 2007, due to low response. However, Conti and Dee Coluntino have graciously offered to host a reunion party at their home. The party will be at Two Hemlock Street in Beverly Farms. The party will begin at 7pm. It will catered by Paul Guanci and Casual Catering. Nonalcoholic drinks will be provided, otherwise BYOB.

The cost will be $20.00 per person payable at the door.

However, we need to have an idea of number of folks in attendance and therefore ask that you RSVP by email to either Kathy Cushing Shipp at kas@xxxxxx.com or Laurie Sabatini Johnson at Johnsonlaurie3@xxx.com on or before Tuesday, July 31st at 6pm. At that time we would need to confirm food amounts, tent(s), chairs, tables, etc.

Well with just a week to go until the reunion, the response has been anemic. We have received about 25 checks and forms in the mail. To break even, we needed about 75 folks to respond. The choice was to either eat the several hundred dollar loss now or a possible couple thousand dollar loss in a week. Since we indicated no tickets to be sold at the door, expecting 50 more people to show up at the door, unannounced with cash in hand, seemed unrealistic. Perhaps since all previous reunions were held around Thanksgiving, it was our mistake to try and schedule this one for the summer. A pattern may have already been set, with expectations that Thanksgiving is forever the season of our reunions. Or maybe we started notification too late by beginning in May for an August date.

To those of you who responded promptly with interest, thank you. Please accept our apologies for having to cancel. We will return your checks as quickly as possible.

To those of you who planned on showing up at the door, we were serious about the please register and pay in advance clause.

Let’s do better next time with the response. Hey, even Veronica managed to get to thirty seven in Clerks.

20th Reunion Photo Album

We scattered some disposable cameras on the tables at the reunion and encouraged folks to pick them up, take some pcitures, and return them to us at the end of the evening. Not all the cameras made it back to the collection box, so I know some of you out there have some pictures that you’re not sharing. If you have a CD that you’d like to send, I can upload your pictures and add to the album.

Technology has progressed so much in the past five years, that posting the album is now pretty much maintenance free. I think we’ll take it to the next level this reunion and again distribute the cameras and offer those of you with digital cameras an avenue to share your pictures with us and get them posted in a new album right away. Share your ideas in the comments section below.

Hey y’all!

Yeah, it’s been 25 years since we graduated, so that means there must be a reunion coming up sometime this year. I set up this wiki for everyone to register and contribute. I’ve been really bad about getting the site up and running since it went on hiatus a long time ago. I started a new business almost two years ago and that has completely consumed my cycles. So, register yourself and have at it. This website belongs to the class - post content!
